News

  • Grin's UTXO set continues to shrink, and has now been reduced by 35% over the past 10 days. Some proper wizardry right there. šŸ§™ā€ā™‚ļø

  • Videos from the Grin Amsterdam talks are now up on Youtube. Thanks to Bitonic for doing the recordings and livestream.

  • Nathaniel Whittemore outlines crypto narratives for Spring 2019, in which he writes that ā€œthe patina of the fair launch narrative has come off a bit after Grinā€. Valid assertion? Maybe, I for one wouldn’t know. It does however beg the question of what exactly was supposed to have happened by now, three months into Grin’s mainnet existence. And one might also wonder how any of this would help justify a forced dev tax for other projects. 惄

DevĀ

  • There areĀ 110 open issuesĀ in /grin, andĀ 32 open issues in /grin-wallet.

  • Merged PRs:Ā 11 in /grinĀ |Ā 1 in /grin-walletĀ | 5 unique contributors

  • TheĀ last dev meetingĀ covered planning for v1.1.0, future I2P support, git branching models, and tx slate versioning.

  • @yeastplume isĀ working on invoicing support for wallet and has created a rust implementation of wallet seed sharding using Samir's Secret Sharing. Pretty cool stuff.

  • @quentinlesceller has been hard at workĀ getting Azure Pipelines properly set upĀ as we move away from Travis.

  • @antiochp asked for input onĀ optimising Merkle Proofs by aggregation.

  • Next bi-weekly developer meeting is scheduled forĀ Tuesday May 14 @ 15:00Ā UTCĀ inĀ grin/DevĀ on Gitter. You canĀ add topics to the agenda.

Governance

  • The first financial transparency report is up for 2019 Q1. Tl;dr - we spent money on devs and audit in Q1, we received some funds, but we could definitely do with some more. Consider contributing!

  • The next bi-weekly governance meeting is scheduled for tomorrowĀ Tue May 7 @ 15:00Ā UTCĀ inĀ grin/LobbyĀ on Gitter.Ā You canĀ add topics to the agenda.

Research

  • Why Software Projects need heroes (Lessons learned from 1100+ projects), paper by Majumder et al.

Upcoming events

  • May 16, Moscow, Russia:Ā 1st Grin Meetup
